The Darning Stitch is actually used to repair the torn areas of any cloth. But this stitch is also used in hand embroidery. This embroidery employs simple running stitch. These running stitches are done in several rows maintaining a certain pattern to create designs. The length of the stitches may also vary to create the design.
1. Draw a Design.
2. Continue doing the running stitches.
3. Skip stitches or change the length of the stitches according to the design’s outline.
4. After completing one line, start another line from the reverse order.
5. Repeat 2 to 4 till the design is embroidered completely.
Here I’m just doing running stitches in some particular directions and lengths to create a specific pattern. The entire design basically depends on how perfect the running stitches are.
