Outline Stitch

Outline Stitch

This stitch is used to outline any embroidery pattern. Though it looks similar to stem stitch, there is a significant difference. In Stem Stitch we do the stitch keeping the thread to the left side of the new stitch. In Outline Stitch we will place the thread to the right side of the new stitch. In another way, we can say that in Stem Stitch, we pull out the threaded needle through the fabric from the right side of the working thread. And in Outline Stitch, we pull out the threaded needle from the left side of the working thread.

The Process:

1. Pull out the threaded needle through the fabric.

2. Take the needle backwards and poke in through another point close to the first one.

3. Keeping the working thread towards right, bring the needle out through middle of the new stitch.

4. Take the needle backwards and poke in through another point close to the previous one.

5. Bring out the threaded needle out through the end point of the previous stitch.

6. Continue the process.
